CATIA v5 Migration: A major Southern California aerospace company transitioned from Pro|Engineer to CATIA v5R17. As the sole onsite consultant we helped several dozen users, the engineering dept, and IT install and administer CATIA while developing multiple batch file-based automation tools. Since the customer did not have a dedicated CAD Admin we also completed Code Served (server-based) installations of CATIA in several locations across the United States and trained "Super Users" to accept additional responsibilities in their expanded roles.
We developed a Visual Basic-based drawing automation tool package completely automating drawing creation and BOM generation. We completed the integration of 64-bit cfDesign (flow analysis package) for the aerospace customer and established their 2-D Components, Standard Hardware, and UDF (User Defined Features) Catalogs. We created Knowledge-based modeling using the KWA and KWE Workbenches. We helped them develop and document Best Practices.
Rocket Science: A major university in the Los Angeles area required the fabrication of metallic components for use in a prototype hybrid liquid/solid rocket engine. We received 3D CAD models from the University then, after suggesting and incorporating some engineering improvements, fabricated the parts using CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) mills and turning centers.
Project Management: A growing machine shop needed shop management software incorporated into their existing systems. We worked closely with the vendor and stake-holders within the company to develop a robust, scalable enterprise system that integrated JobBOSS with QuickBooks and captured process times while allowing the company to continue production through an implementation based on the organization's natural business cycles.
